Yes there is. Have a look at these from Exicon.

http://www.exicon.info/products.php

You want the single die 8amp devices to keep originality although there are double die (16 amp) devices available. The double die parts would have twice the gate capacitance, however I wouldn't anticipate any issue if you did use those.

The two device numbers are ECF10N20 and ECF10P20

You're welcome.

The original Maplin design which itself is based on the original Hitachi lateral FET application notes is a terrific performer.

That Hitachi application note amp turned up all over the place under various names and is, as said a good performer.

THe most elaborated published design using these transistors was probably the David Hafler DH200 which is quite different to the maplin amp.

Hi Stuart,
I believe I have some of the original Hitachi 2SJ48 and K133 here somewhere.
Are you going to build the amp?

You will get the same performance with the later TOP-3 flat pack devices that will fit the
board using a single screw and nut ; 2SK413 and 2SJ118, also Hitachi devices

Hya, think I have messed up on replies, phone just too small now, especially on this site. Yes I plan to make two of the amplifiers up, have most things if not all except devices. Thanks also for other suggestions too.

Hi Stuart, How about these, they were working when removed from something I scrapped a few years ago. Norman

Here is a simulation of the amp for those that might use LTspice. The file will run on either LTIV or LTXVII. What is actually surprising is that someone reckoned the amp was unity gain stable and believe it or not the sim shows that to be basically true.
