Instruction on Melcher switching regulator modules type SMR126ER-7 & PSR128 Please
This maybe a long shot, but this forum always seems to come up trumps with information so it is worth a try.
I obtained these at Hack Green at the weekend and would really like to use these modules with my radio kit when out portable. They seem to work when putting a supply on them, but they can be trimmed with external resistors. I'd love to see a datasheet for them, but any information might help. I can find instructions on line for similar modules, but not the exact ones. I remember ordering and using these 20 - 25 years ago when at work, so they were likely supplied by the likes of Farnell or R.S. Many thanks Nick |

Re: Instruction on Melcher switching regulator modules type SMR126ER-7 & PSR128 Pleas
These power supplies were very common at work too, we never had any service info either so they got binned if faulty.
Melcher became Power-One, who have since been taken over by Belfuse. You probably won't find the exact model, but will find an equivalent with higher power rating for the size. Edit: they don't seem to do anything in that series with those voltage ranges and output current above 3A any-more. Thanks for the info and link David.
I'll have a play later. Six and eight amps is handy, it is enough to power my existing portable setup and I plan to try it with some Li-ion cells, as the capacity of these are great, but you don't get a suitable supply from them to power 12volt equipment. Re: Instruction on Melcher switching regulator modules type SMR126ER-7 & PSR128 Pleas
I've just had a play with the switching modules.
They all work. The PSR128 needs a 270k resistor between R and Vo+ to give 13.8v out. The SMR 126, requires a 2k resistor between the two "Sense" terminals to give 13.8v out. Many thanks for the help and info. Nick |
