Bring & Buy at June Harpenden
Is anyone planning to run the bring and buy at June Harpenden? If not, I suppose I'm volunteered to do it and whoever's doing it would appreciate some offers of help.
You still get plenty of time to look round and it's a good place to meet people. PS: Sorry there's no talk at the June Harpenden. Any suggestions for speakers are very welcome. If you have something interesting you'd like to tell us about in person or know somebody who does then please contact me. Anything with a practical demonstration is especially welcome. |

Re: Bring & Buy at June Harpenden
I was planning to run this. Not sure ig Julian will be able to make it, but the more helpers the better.
After the last one that Julian and I ran, we decided to implement so changes in the way we organised it to try and address some problems. I'll dig out my notes. TTFN, Jon |

Jeffrey / Jon
As I will be arriving there much earlier than usual, I should be able to fit a stint in before I leave mid-afternoon to head for the tripe curtain.

I can also do a stint. I'm aiming to be there just before 10, with a load of stuff for the stall.

I'll be there and happy to help. It is encouraging how this facility has increased in popularity over the last few 'Harpendens'.

Re: Bring & Buy at June Harpenden
Jon Evans and I hope to be there at about 0900. However, neither of us are feeling 100% and it's just possible things won't work out. If neither of us can do it then perhaps one of you (Jim, ever felt you are being volunteered!) could rise to the occasion.

Re: Bring & Buy at June Harpenden
I am aiming to be there early. I assume that the main problem is getting the updated paperwork into position so that entries can be accepted?

Re: Bring & Buy at June Harpenden
All help appreciated on the day but don't worry too much about paperwork etc. Jim is now well briefed if Jon and I can't make it.

No problem if you need a hand.....I have just filled the truck with junk so if you dont want to see it on the hard shoulder of the M1 we had better get our act together... Regards, John.

Re: Bring & Buy at June Harpenden
A quick thank you to those who did such a stirling job running this today!
I've never seen so much stuff being offered before and it seemed at the start that space was at a premium as more and more items appeared (some of it mine!) Well done gentlemen!!! |

Re: Bring & Buy at June Harpenden
There was a huge amount of stuff! Bigger than any previous B&B.
Thanks to Jim, Peter and Edward who gave so much help on the B&B today. It was really Jim running it with my help rather than the other way around. Thanks also to several others who offered to help. We may not have desperately needed you this time but there will certainly be another. |

Re: Bring & Buy at June Harpenden
Yes, thanks to those who ran the Bring & Buy so efficiently - it's clearly become very popular! I was pleased to return home with only one of my three items unsold - a bit of space created at last!
I had offered to lend a hand, but in the event I'd probably have just been in the way - the offer's always there for future events, though. Tom |

Re: Bring & Buy at June Harpenden
Did somebody buy a Black Star Orion TV pattern generator at the B&B today? If so, I've got the manual for it. It's only a user manual, not much actual useful information Found it in my bag when I got home, probably thought it was the manual for the Meteor 100 frequency counter which I got from Peter Sol. I suppose it's possible that the guy who's got the TV generator has the manual for my counter!

Re: Bring & Buy at June Harpenden
Thanks for alll the help on the B&B gents.
In case anyone is interested, just over £36 went to BVWS funds, and just over £186 went to the mueusm funds. This equates to over £500 taken on the stall! I need to make some refinements to my system if I run it again. Pre-numbering the registration sheets would allow us to book items in more efficiently, and we should consider only taking items in at one end of the table, then we could have two people to register them in, and one to take the items out to the sale tables. I would hope that would reduce the risk of unlabelled items making it on to the sale tables (luckily, the items were mine this time!). Does anyone have any other suggestions? Jim. |

Re: Bring & Buy at June Harpenden
Great! I managed to part with a few items on the stall today. The McCarthy table top radiogram took some shifting and with all the those cameras on the M1 roadworks it would not have been advisable to jetison it on the way home........Mike stepped in at the end of the auction and disposed of it quickly..Thanks to all concerned. Great fun and nice to meet up with so many friends. Cheers again, John.
