Hi Wim, I think there are some programmes available ("Meter" for example) that will allow you to create/ replicate your own meter scale on a PC and then print out onto a suitable media.

Or just take your image to a photo-booth in a supermarket.

Some time ago there was a major article on Avo Valve Tester meters and dials by Gary Tempest, in the BVWS Bulletin - I can recall which issue - maybe someone else might know? It had very clear drawings of the dials, I think on the back page of the Bulletin, which could be scanned and used to either create waterslide decals, or perhaps more easily, to print onto photo paper (gloss or satin say), and fixed to a dial plate. I've done that often on smaller meters that I've adapted for homebrew projects. The third pic is of a scale for a homebrew ESR meter fitted to the dial plate of a 50uA meter.

Alternatively, the image by Wim in post #1 could be cleaned up in Photoshop and a dial decal/phot be created from that. Admittedly it would be a bit tedious, but would provide a solution if Wim's quest for dials isn't successful. I've spent a few minutes cleaning up the background a bit to illustrate that with time, the dial could be 'cloned' using Photoshop. I've shown it below alongside Wim's picture. The scale and lettering would of course need to be cleaned up.

As we know, Avo valve testers command high prices and become a hobby in their own right. The meter is such a focal point that a scale that looks less than perfect will detract from the appearance, look like a bodge and might suggest other unseen bodges 'under the bonnet'.

Best wishes in your quest to find dials Wim.

I too have some scanned copies. So you've several choices. Best to choose one you like, then PM one of us with your email address, so that we can send you a better definition copy. Then print onto some photo glossy quality card.

Regards, David
