Exclamation Suitable HT Rectifier Diodes for AKAI 1710

One of the two original HT Rectifier diodes(Marked 'SM' or maybe '8M') in a 1710 had failed virtually s/c. The circuit appears to be a standard FW type using two of the above with a 2 x 40uf reservoir/smoothing capacitor. Having some FR207s handy, I decided to replace the original diodes with two of these, which are rated at 2A each-a bit overkill for a valve HT supply, I know, but, AFAIK they should be OK for the job. I can't find any data for 'SM' or '8M'(maybe they're 1S8M or similar?)
Any information welcome.

I can't think of any reason why a 2A 1kV diode shouldn't be fine. These are probably higher rated than the original parts.

The recorder is working fine with the 2A diodes, Paul, so I'll leave them in place
