A great explanatory video
Hello all
I came across this today and thought I would share it. For someone like me who knows and understands very little indeed about science, electronics and physics something like this really enthuses me. But who is this marvellous teacher and where can I see more of his work? https://mobile.twitter.com/BBCArchiv...41701252091904 Martin

Re: A great explanatory video
Kenneth Williams was one of the most famous British entertainers of his era. He's in many of the Carry On films, classic radio series like Round The Horne, but he was at his best on comedy quiz panel shows. Fast, intelligent and very very funny. He was a master of double (triple..) entendre.
There are now plenty of biographical pieces going into his then rather unusual and troubled home-life.He was right at the top without hurting anyone. Some other comedians could be rather nasty, and the thread pointed to alludes to some things done by Tony Hancock. You've just come across a national treasure! David

Re: A great explanatory video
I think clarity of technical explanation Kenneth Williams is even surpassed by Professor Stanley Unwin:

Re: A great explanatory video
Stanley Unwin used to be a BBC Engineer at Daventry. Funny stuff, RF!

Re: A great explanatory video
There are lots of comedians that have a scientific/engineering background, comedy pays more alas.

Michael Bentine for example [Goon Show]. Check out the Carry On films or, on Radio 4xtra, "Round The Horne" for K Williams Martin-especially as "Rambling Syd Rumpo"

Re: A great explanatory video
The video in question is a segment from the BBC's "Tomorrow's World" programme, on which Kenneth Williams was once a guest presenter. I agree that he did a fantastic job - all his stage character came through without dumbing down the science. From my memories of watching the programme in the early 1980s, I'm sure he wasn't a regular presenter!
