Local house clearance auction bits
Folks,
Went to my local auction near Aldershot last Wednesday evening and there were only four relevant items:- 1). Avometer Mk7, no case but very good condition. Sold for £2. 2). Old Ferrograph valve tape recorder, wooden case, dark green vinyl covering, very good condition, very heavy. Unsold, no interest. 3). Leak Troughline FM tuner in a wooden sleeve, bit scruffy. Unsold, no interest. 4). Old Metamec electronic battery clock with floating balance movement, lovely condition, not working. Bought by me for £5. Last edited by dennishoy; 12th Nov 2011 at 1:07 am. |

Re: Local house clearance auction bits
Any chance of a photo of the clock? (Maybe a new thread if you're restoring it?) Thanks

Re: Local house clearance auction bits
Sure Brian,
Just stripped down everything, cleaned the old lacquer from the brass, cleaned the woodwork and set up the floating balance movement, repaired the battery holder and ressembled. It didn't work due to duff AC122 transistor which I replaced. All now working fine. The only outstanding job is to reattach the little starting lever which snapped of due to a brittle plastic rivet. I've temporary sellotaped it to the back so I don't lose it. Clock is here.... |

I will one day . When I deliberately looked a few years ago i couldn't find it . It will be there somewhere as nothing is thrown out in that house .
