Dismantling the speakers isn't an option. All I can realistically do, I think, is to use some conductive paint on the accessible connections. Is there a particular brand of said paint or else suitable than others for such an application?

The default "silver-loaded conductive paint" is stuff called Elecolit-340.

I've used it in the past for all sorts of things - like repairing scratched 'spray-on' RFI-protection on plastic cases, and fixing broken tracks on car heated-rear-windows.
