What is it? another car boot buy....
Hello
Just bought the attached volt/ammeter at a French car boot. Can anybody add any information? Many thanks in advance. Philip |

Wow. All i can do is hazard a guess at late '20's- (very) early '30's....although French gear of this era can look older than it actually is- they held onto certain styles longer than one might expect.

Re: What is it? another car boot buy....
At a first glance it looks like an early high voltage and high current multi range meter. The multipliers for the voltage ranges being within the cage above the three inputs. The shunts for the amp ranges are taken up by the rest of the area and look to be particularly high current devices. The strange thing is that the meters have a bit of a 'ballistic galvo' look about them, so it could even be a piece of scientific lab gear, which may mean it's not quite as old as it looks, but still 50s to 60s.

The cramped at one end scale on at least one of the meters suggests moving iron movements. Could be AC (mains) meters. The shunts look like they could handle serious currents!

Lovely old wooden case, lovely old brass work, lovely old MI meters. Should clean up a dream. Well worth keeping as a display item.

Hi Philip, if you bring it over I can probably check its operation for you.
