332L - conversion for France
Hi,
I'm trying to find out if it's possible to convert a 332L for use on a French landline. It's already been fitted with a standard UK plug and is in full working order. Does anyone know if it's possible to buy an adaptor plug or can the UK plug be removed and a new, standard French plug wired in its place? All suggestions welcome. |

Re: 332L - conversion for France
The main difference between UK and (the most of ) the rest of the world is the Uk master socket. (I t may be hard to admit, but the UK system is rather smart ) You have to pick 1 of 2 solutions,
1: Buy a UK mastersocket and connect it to the french line...and everything works. 2: If the 2 microfarad capacitor inside is removed you have to find a new one, 1-2.2 microfarad should be OK. If it still is there, just rewire it back to this: http://tinyurl.com/3yzbkwk the strap between screw no 11 and 12 may preferably be replaced by a resistor of 3 to 4 kilo-ohms. The resistor will probably not be needed with only one or 2 telephones on the line, but the more telephones the more important it is. dsk |

A Google search for "french telephone adaptors" threw up this. Is there anything in this list which would serve your purpose?
edit: I didn't look closely at any of them to check whether there is anything which performs the duties of a UK master socket.

Further scrutiny shows that the sixth one on the list (at £8.46) includes a ringing capacitor - otherwise if you have a spare plug-in ADSL filter you could use that plugged into one that doesn't have a cap.
