Ultimate Golden Knight?
I believe this radio is called an Ultimate and I found it in a junk shop many years back covered in gloss paint.
After removing the paint I found that the radio was originally chrome but it had a lot of wear and tear so I got the thing replated. I believe that it's Australian but couldn't be sure. It has Shortwave and Broadcast Band with numbers only..........Paul. (Image to follow, I've had problems uploading). Last edited by Darren-UK; 27th Dec 2007 at 12:27 pm. Reason: Thread tidying. |

Re: anyone seen one of these?
What a fantastic cabinet design, does the radio work well.
Could be a Golden Knight made in 1946 by Radio (1936) Ltd. This was a New Zealand Company. They produced radio designs and manufactured sets for about a dozen known brands such as Ekco, Ultimate.... They were known originally before their name change as the Ultimate brand. Mike Last edited by Darren-UK; 27th Dec 2007 at 12:44 pm. |

Re: anyone seen one of these?
All I can say is the Radio works but needs a little coaxing which is beyond my ability to sort out.
When seen close up I don't think I have ever seen a more streamline modernist design. This thing is awesome close up and even the knobs are a work of modernist art. When you change wavebands, the pointer clicks over and from what I seem to remember may even change colour....................Paul. Last edited by Darren-UK; 27th Dec 2007 at 12:42 pm.
