Vidor Radio model 396A
Hi from Australia, I recently purchased a Vidor 396A from EBAY. When the case is opened and the chasis removed there are two springs on the left side screwed to the case. It seems when the lid is closed the hinge shorts these two springs. Can someone advise what the springs are for. There are two wires leading from the springs to the chasis. Radioneil

Hi Radioneil.
Can't remember this exact model but it usually caused the set oscillate (Howl) when the lid is closed to remind you that it's still switched on. Cheers Mike T

Re: Vidor Radio model 396A
Hi Radionell
If it’s any help I repaired one of these sets a few years ago. Write up here: https://www.vintage-radio.com/recent...or-cn396a.html I think there is a brief mention of the squealer, and how it works.

Vidor 396A
Good Morning all, I have now got it working. The problem I have is that I can't turn the volume right down. Just wondering if any one has had a similar problem. radioneil

Re: Vidor 396A
I have one.
It's the same, sound is low at minimum setting but still quite audible, it's a good feature when running on battery power as it saves you leaving it switched on! |
