Re: Next BVWS Bulletin
Got mine today here up north.
I just noticed there is a price tag of £5 per issue on the back cover. Can you buy the bulletin elsewhere other than by subscription? |

Re: Next BVWS Bulletin
I think it is so the society or museum can charge for back issues, it sets a price. They have always had a nominal cover price. There is no Bulletin only membership or subscription.

Re: Next BVWS Bulletin
You probably wrote your card details on the form and posted it, or gave them to the membership secretary over the phone. The renewal form was obviously different last year as it had all the offline payment options.

Re: Next BVWS Bulletin
The Bulletin goes to my Northern address Paul. My son has just left there and says it's not arrived yet so I'm not sure if the new Subscription system is on line only. Xmas/New Year is my usual renewal point. Are cheques now defunct?

Re: Next BVWS Bulletin
You can still pay by cheque if you wish. Detail are on the yellow insert as usual.
Online is preferred as it is quicker for members and less work for us, but we are happy to accept your membership fees by any means. |

Re: Next BVWS Bulletin
I seem to remember there was an attempt to do away with traditional cheques not long ago, but the attempt was abandoned.
edit: I mean generally, not the BVWS.

Re: Next BVWS Bulletin
A number of clubs and societies put prices on their journals because books and magazines are zero rated for VAT, and I believe they treated part of the membership fee as covering the purchase of the zero VAT publication. I don't know if they managed to get a tax reduction out of this, but that was the explanation the RSGB gave at the time.
