Re: Dansette Conquest auto mk2 (Actually a mk1).
Disconnect the feedback loop by disconnecting the yellow wire which goes from the secondary of the output transformer to the PCB. See if it howls then

Re: Dansette Conquest auto mk2 (Actually a mk1).
2 things to do. keep the volume low and play a record.
The speaker socket at the back may be faulty try shorting its 2 wires together and see if you have sound, If not check the speakers.Disconnect one wire and check their resistance. should be 2 to 4 ohms each. Look at the circuit diagram and follow it speaker wise to see what is supposed to go where. The output transformer has too much voltage across it and will blow if this fault continues. |

Re: Dansette Conquest auto mk2 (Actually a mk1).
you will blow it up yet.
Follow my advice on thread 106 and keep the volume low until you find the fault. |

Re: Dansette Conquest auto mk2 (Actually a mk1).
i shorted the signal wires from the back of the speaker socket. there is not high pitch noise or crackling. I'm going to try another cartridge from another dansette as no sound coming from the speakers.

Re: Dansette Conquest auto mk2 (Actually a mk1).
Please try my suggestions in post 106 first why do you keep going off a different way
It is obviously a problem with the speakers not at the cartridge end. |

Have you checked the resistance of the speakers one by one?

Rather than giving conflicting information, I'll leave things to Peter.

Re: Dansette Conquest auto mk2 (Actually a mk1).
I am trying to help but my suggestions keep being ignored.
The valve and speaker output transformer seem to be flashing over because the speakers are open circuit somewhere (no load). It is like racing a car engine with no load, it stands still (no sound) and eventually blows up (flashing over). please read my 106, and 112 post and follow the steps and report back. If you don't you may well end up with a record player which has to be scrapped as has happened here recently all for a simple fault. Last edited by peter_sol; 14th May 2016 at 8:40 pm. |

Re: Dansette Conquest auto mk2 (Actually a mk1).
peter i really appreciate the help you are trying to give. so that I'm not being misinterpreted i will short the two wire back together then remove the red signal from the right speaker...measure the resistance. reattach then remove the black signal and measure the resistance. do i need to do the same to the left speaker which has brown and yellow wires.
i will wait before attempting that |

Re: Dansette Conquest auto mk2 (Actually a mk1).
Yes yes solder the wires back on the ext speaker socket then remove one wire from one speaker and measure across the speaker it should be 2.5 or 3 ohms if that first one is OK resolder and do the same with The second speaker. read my post 116.

Re: Dansette Conquest auto mk2 (Actually a mk1).
peter...removed the red wire and got 4.0 ohms
0 ohms for the black wire |
