Hi middlefour,

I am really interested in the documentation that shows how to build the scope. I lost my copy years ago. Still have the scope after all these years!
I also have the 40 experiments documentation in easy to read PDF format if you are interested? If you could send me a copy of the build instructions I would be very grateful.
Thanks

Hi, I would be grateful for the build instructions for this BNRS oscilloscope.
Have you got scanned copies of the instructions please?

Thank you very much Brian. I understand how much work you put into this and I appreciate it a lot.
The valve course I had used foolscap format which has been obsolete for many years now. I had to scan each page, splice then together and OCR them. After that, I would convert to PDF. This took many months! My objective in all this is not just nostalgia, it is to put them on a web site I am building and try to encourage youngsters to take up analogue or digital electronics. The valve course is still relevant today because many music instrument amplifiers and some effects pedals are using valves. There is a great lack of understanding with valve technology. This could be addressed on a web site. Also, the transistor version of the course is even more relevant today. The experiments in both the valve and transistor courses are really just the building blocks of basic electronics. Thus making a great starting point for young people trying to get started in electronic engineering, just as we did many years ago! The oscilloscope used high voltage supplies and is not suitable today for the young. It just so happens that technology had moved on so much from the valve and transistor scopes that we built many years ago to a digital kit that uses low voltage supplies and is safe for yougsters to build. This means that the course experiments can be used with a safer alternative scope and the learning objectivs met at a low cost.
Thanks very much for all your help in this project.
The only part of the puzzle left now is the assembly/buils instructions for the vale oscilloscope. I will keep hunting for this!
Thanks
Phill

Trevor, have you got the transistor or valve oscilloscope version?

Mine seems to be a hybrid in that it uses valves to the drive the crt deflection but the rest is transistor I have not looked in it for a year or so but does this make any sense

Hi Trevor.
I have not seen a hybrid before! Only a all valve version and a solid state version. The solid state version used 7 transistors and one I.C. The valve version used a single valve and a dual valve. Both types seem to have used the same C.R.T. I will attach the schematics for both types. The transistor version was kindly supplied to me by Brian.
If you get time to take a photo of this hybrid scope version it would be interesting. Maybe the scope is not a BRNSscope?
Thanks
Phill

Thanks very much Brian.
I can see how much work you have put into this and I am very grateful.
I will at some point in time put the information on a website so that everyone can
have access to this information.

Thanks

I kept these, did this years ago, will set to scanning them in, there’s quite a lot in the series that I can remember, give me a week or two to complete.

Thank's James. Is this the valve version of the BNRS course? If so,the only part I have missing now is the build instructions!
Thanks
