Default Question re. coil in mm cartridge

May be a stupid question, please forgive me ...I am attempting to re-solder a coil to the cartridge pins as an experiment, both ends of one coil are detached from the pins. I can't tell which wire is the signal and which is the ground, does it matter or can they be soldered either way?

If it’s a mono cartridge it doesn’t matter. If stereo then if connected the wrong way round the channels will be out of phase.
