Default Silver marks on bakelite

Hi,

I managed to get a DAC90A. Anyway, it looks nice and dusty inside and seems to have all the original components. At least its not been 'got at' and I can have the experience of getting it back to life and modding to 'kalee spec'.

Looking at the cabinet, it looks pretty good. There is a scratch on the front that looks like a silvery line, and there are a few spots on the side. The cabinet is fairly glossy and doesn't seem to have had a hard life. The silver line and dots don't rub off with a finger.

I'm wondering, before I attack it with a mild cleaner such as T-cut or silver polish, as otherwise mentioned on this site, if these marks are the bakelite, or if someone as splattered it or scratched it with something that has left a silver deposit? Has anyone seen similar marking before?

Steve
