Belts for Hitachi D22S Mk II
Hello all
I have just picked up a Hitachi D22S Mk II from a kind forum member and, from a very quick investigation, the problem with it seems to be the belts (I found one loose and off the pulleys and another disintegrated). Where would I source replacements and how would I know what to order? Also, is there a way to work out where the belts go (I know they go on the pulleys, but not what the proper arrangement is)? I ask as I have had a look at what I think is the right service manual, but the parts are listed simply as "belts" (ie no dimensions) and I don't think there is a drawing of how the belts are arranged. I can't use how they are arranged at the moment to guide me as they are not in situ (apart from the counter belt). Thanks Martin

CPC have a good range of belts, but you'll have to know what you want.
The price of belts can be outrageous from some sellers.

I may have to bite the bullet though if I can't work out the right types another way.

Re: Belts for Hitachi D22S Mk II
Drive belt dimensions are often not shown/listed in service manuals. The belts may be shown in exploded mechanical drawing but often not easy to see accurately exactly the belt routing.
If you can work out belt routing you can run a piece of string around to get a fairly tight fit then measure the length of the string (circumference) then from that calculate the diameter, belts are often sold by their ID (Inner Diameter). Various online sellers sell sets of miscellaneous size cassette belts at reasonable prices so may be possible to find suitable sized belts that way. David |

Thanks David.
I have had a look at the exploded drawing and you are right. Why they don't do a nice sketch showing how the belts go is beyond me, unless it's to ensure only approved service engineers can repair them...
