Thanks Mike will bring the R707 along with me in january.

The coil is very loose john, on the rod you can move it very easily, SW still picks up nothing at all after soldering the SW switch just hiss the R707 now cant pick up any stations on MW after 3.40PM but works fine on MW untill it starts to get dark.

Dear Marcus.
The can you point to in the photo is the FM tuner unit . The can in question is lower in the photo under the rerrite rod, it is marked roberts radio and IMPORTANT. to get at the transistors inside is a devil of a job, the wave change switch has to be removed, then the if module unsoldered, by memory there are 3 af types to be replaced , then when you reinstall it use short flexible leads so it can be serviced in future easy.
