War Time Civilian Set Dial Calibration.
In The Trader Service Sheet for The War Time Civilian Set it mentions calibration marks close to the 550M and 200M scale markings. It looks like the scale on my set has been repainted and the marks have disappeared.
Can anyone tell me where the calibration marks are in relation to the 500M and 200M markings? I know this could be difficult to specify, but perhaps someone can tell me where the pointer is in relation to the ends of the semi-circular slot when tuning capacitor is fully meshed and unmeshed. For the moment I have set the pointer to give equal gaps to the end of the slot at the extreme positions of the pointer, but this results in one of the coil adjustments hitting the end stop. Of couse a scan of the scale would be great. Thanks. Graham. |

Re: War Time Civilian Set Dial Calibration.
Thanks Dave.
It's interesting that the scale on the Past Times Radio site has hardly any calibration mark close to 200M (220M):- http://www.freeweb.telco4u.net/pastt...ials/util1.jpg whereas the one here:- http://www.thevalvepage.com/radios/w...s/warmains.htm has hardly any calibration mark close to 550M. I'll be able to get the info I need from a combination of the two. Graham. |

I have a couple of these receivers in original condition in the darkest depths of the loft. I'll try and find time today to dig one out and have a look for you. I'm sure I remember some additional markings on the dial apart from the normal markings, so we may be in luck! regards Trevor |

Re: War Time Civilian Set Dial Calibration.
Graham -
I had a good look at my Civilian set to-day and it does indeed have two calibration marks - one at 220 and one at about 560 metres. They are very short (1.5mm) fine lines on the outer edge of the dial plate cut-out (the edge marked with "Home" and "Forces" stations). Unless someone jumps in with better information, I'll try to post a photograph here in a day or two - I'll need to do it carefully or the resolution might not be good enough to show them. Robert |

As promised, here is a photograph of my Civilian set dial, together with a couple of scrap views highlighting the calibration marks. Robert |

Re: War Time Civilian Set Dial Calibration.
Robert,
Thanks for taking the trouble to post the pictures of the scale. I'll be able to tackle the RF Alignment of my Wartime Civvy now. Graham. |
