Yesterday 16th was a very active day on Band 1. R1 was jammed with stations at one point, I counted 8 different carriers. Trouble is when it's like that ID is much harder. Easy to wheedle out Russia 1 due to its bright logo, the others are more difficult.

Mid afternoon propagation dropped like a stone, then at 7 PM band 1 became very good again until nearly midnight when it all went.

Amazing SpE opening tonight, TV sigs on R1, and noise free FM radio from Russia on 70.3MHz.

Missing all the fun here only seeing or hearing very weak and multiple signals on R1/R2 making it impossible to identify using the TV via a D100 tuner or using my scanner.

On both the 17th and the 18th strong afternoon R1 and R2 and the 50.275 transmission.

On the 18th I was receiving tens and tens of old allocation OIRT VHF/FM stations (in the 66 to 73 Mc/s band) until at least 9:30 PM. Another impressive day. Interestingly the FM stations could be well coming from a closer part of Russia than the TV.

R1 was present earlier this morning, the 19th - but no 50.275 transmissions - so evidently they are separated geographically.

20th June, About 9 AM BST:

R1, R2, 50.275 Mc/s and OIRT FM stations. Also Radio Amateur SSB in the 6m band. Not bad going for this time of the day.

I noticed just before I left the car to come into work some Es activity starting to emerge at the lower end of the FM band. I did not have time to investigate which direction this opening was coming from. If its from the east then you lucky people not at work should check out R1 and R2

Earlier this morning I heard the 50.275 Mc/s slot active - but no R1 or R2. I tried listening later and heard nothing.

I had a picture on R1 yesterday afternoon about 1430utc. A negative offset at 49.740 with a dark haired female presenter, it was quite a weak signal with the faint 1+1 logo in the top right corner. It only lasted a few minutes before it faded out. There was no activity on the 6m ham band.

I've looked at differing times over the last few days but very little apart from weak 50.275 Mc/s even that only occasionally.

However this morning about 9:45 BST I turned on and heard nothing then suddenly there was quite a strong 50.275 Mc/s signal. This persisted for must have been a minute - varying in a manner I have heard often before, over the years, due to a large meteor event. I had time to tune to R1 vision but nothing to be heard and back to 50.275 where the signal was still present. I find it interesting that I have heard nothing on R1 from any meteor event over all my listening last year and this year. I suppose it is telling me that meteor burn-ups happen at a lower altitude that the E layer events.

Last night i had time to watch radioredcat youtube videos I must say that really
enjoyed them .At first I envied the equipemt being used and the good clear pic, My reception as neaver lasted this long in one go. Tonight i opened up my little panasonic Tr5001g to see if I could improve focus (see post 54) the fouus control a 2.2 Meg preset on the crt base had no voltage on the center conection but 340 volts the top connection, the control was oc. I did not have a new preset so two 1Meg resistors were connected in series and the center going to the focus pin via a 1.8m resistor.switched, on what difference , no dx about but using a vcr and set on uhf Menu from vcr was very good focus . Hoping for more Dx in the next few day hopefully, then i should be able to read Logo. Thanks again radioredcat for your video,s.
Regards Derrick

Thanks Derrick sadly not seen any activity for days now most unusual for July so hopefully it will pick up again soon.
Most TV-DXers are saying they think Jordan E 3 has gone off air as no one has seen it this year and I agree I haven't seen it either.
