Default Dansette conquest

Hi
I have a dansette record player, which has an extremely faded casing, it’s red and cream, does anyone have any ideas of the best way to restore the casing, I was hoping I could get a chemical cleaner todo the job but, if as I suspect it will require re covering where is the best place to find the covering, thanks very much in advance

Shoe cream has worked well for me.

No need to re-cover and do stay away from any form of chemical cleaner!
Start with a medium toothbrush and detergent (eg Fairy Liquid) and work in small areas. For stubborn marks use Cif (used to be Jif) or simlar. Take your time. Clean all off, especially the white, cloudy Cif. Then use a matching coloured leather dye/cream or thinned matching model maker's enamel paint. You'll be surprised. It will take time and patience - but so much cheaper, takes less time and is far less interventionist than recovering. lndeed, compared to some I've worked on, yours looks a doddle to restore.

Your RP looks in reasonable condition, certainly compared to some I’ve restored over the years. What ever method you follow, as suggested in previous posts, take your time.

Hi all
Thanks very much, I didn’t want to recover it really and I’ll try the methods suggested, I have another dansette conquest which is in very poor condition and will require the material for grill, any idea where i could get that from ?
Regards
Andy

All things are chemicals, some elements some compounds.

Back on topic, the foaming cleaners are very good, such as https://uk.farnell.com/vivanco/39755...foam%20cleaner

Take a stroll round your local haberdashery, loads of ideas there.

I use to get my supply of Rexine and speaker cloth from Russel Chaplin at Retrospecilist.co.uk.
