Default Enertec/Solartron/Schlumberger information.

The closed thread of August 2009 in frozen oscilloscope info about Enertec Schlumberger 5224 was lamenting the dearth of data on the web or with the normally invaluable Maurtitron, Telford or Cooke International. I have some manuals or circuit & key information about Solartron / Enertec scopes, including about the plug-ins so often omitted, (Solartron CD518/568 (useable for CT316/D300), CD513/523, CD711S, CD814, CD1014, CT436/CD1017, CD1183, CD1212/CT484, CD1400 series, CD1642, CD1740, A100), and other Solartron system voltmeters, power supplies and generators if anyone looking for this info. It would seem a pity to dump a perfectly good machine for lack of the circuit and servicing info.
The Enertec 5220 is the 2 channel version of the 4 channel 5224 referred to in the closed thread, so the manual for 5220 would solve 95% of problems (It was circa 1982). I have the manuals for the 5216,120Mhz, and 5222 40/50Mhz, (circa 1978), which appear the same family, but different from the 5220-4.
After the takeover by Schlumberger, System voltmeters were concentrated at Farnborough (Solartron), and Scopes and Function Generators etc at Enertec/CRC at St-Etienne.
In the thread, "electroanorak" was also asking for the 4416 programmable generator. I have the manual for the 4415 version, which was identical except without the IEE programming facility. If still wanted, send me a PM.
I attach the specs for the 5220/4 scopes and the 4415/6 function generators.
I am not sure if the moderators would prefer this dealt with completely by PM. No doubt they will suppress this thread if inappropriate. Perhaps I am creating a labour of Hercules for myself by releasing a pent-up demand for Solartron. Bill m0wpn

Hello, Bill.

Can you say what the difference between model 5222 and 5277?

Or any information about Model 5277...

Regards, Softy.

I attach extracts from Enertec/Schlumberger catalogue, for 1982 dealing with 5222, and 1987 for 5277. As you will see, they are very different beasts. The 5277 is analogue storage, and looks as though it is computer driven. I have the manual for the 5222, a standard dual trace, 2 timebase model, originally quoted as 40Mhz, but soon upgraded to 50Mhz. Bill m0wpn

Enertec 5024. I have found a catalogue giving the specification for 1982. And the UK list price in 1983 of £965. That is all I'm afraid. If you ever find a manual, I'd be very grateful for a copy please.
Solartron / Enertec information is very scarce, as the companies have effectively disappeared. I have been very interested in the debate (which I admit to starting) about the ethics of copying manuals. But it makes one much less concerned when the makers just lose interest and disappear. Bill

I've had an SI 4922 for many years but never had a manual for it. I don't suppose you have a copy of that by any chance?

Thanks Bill,

You have got to be the oracle of all things Enertec.

I will let you have a copy of the manual if I ever obtain one.

Best regards, sheddweller

I don't think I have replied to say: Solartron Instruments 4922. No manual. But a catalogue specification from 1987 which might give you some ideas attached. Bill.

Hello, had to register after finding this forum through a search from link to link to... Also belong to several of the Yahoo forums but could never get the private messaging to work, no doubt be testing that soon.

Yes, Solartron etc seem to be impossible to find data on. I have an 4433 function generator that I can find nothing about. Similarly for the various phase gain analysers they made, 1253 etc. Have the manual for the 1170 and see it has a digital calculation of logs using TTL, brilliant, but fixing it? On the good side I have a full manual for the CD1212 scope and plug ins, scope now redundant and heading for the scrappy.

Nice to join in, Bob.

Default Re: Enertec/Solartron. CD1212 manual

Replying to ZL1TQT posting (1 June). I will see what I can to, but it might take me some weeks to scan it all in. The original was done using the coated paper copier and parts are not very clear. Obviously a quick job done for the military version CT484, as the commercial version, intended to compete with the Tek 541 series, did not apparently sell well. It will be a large file, so send me your email (by PM) in a couple of weeks to prod me into doing the job. Unless you can persuade Woodchips (26May) to post you his redundant copy of the manual. Hello, more than welcome to the manual, just postage costs.

Now need to find how to send a PM.

Hi Bill (and everyone around here).

I'm sorry to bother you with this, but would it be possible to get a copy of any pieces of information you have concerning the Schlumberger 5222, please ?
I've got such a device but I feel it requires a bit of maintenance due to its age.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance and best regards.

Enertec 5222. I have now scanned the full manual, with circuits and PCB layouts, for this 40/50 Mhz oscilloscope. It is nearly 8Mb, so too large to send via the forum. If Cailloux would like to send me a PM with his email address, I send by that.
I have one of these, for which the leafs operated by the cams for the Time Base switches have got displaced (?worn). Has anyone any experience of servicing these. I hesitate to unsolder from the boards and rebuild the switches, as they are very lightly made, clearly down to a price.
I cannot help Chaparal, as I have nothing upon the 4700 Sig Gen or the FR151 receiver.
I have scanned the manual for the CD1212, which is 12M, and really needs a CD to make sense of sending it. But as ZL1TQT is so far away in postal terms, perhaps he would send me his email address, by PM. Bill m0wpn

Hello
I have also been looking for information on these scopes, as I have a 5220 (2-input, 100MHz). One of the problems I have is that the front panel is in French! So I would definitely appreciate a user manual. I'll send you a PM with my email address or maybe it will be more convenient for you to post the files on something like Rapidshare?

Thanks.
