In 1963 my late wife and I were on honeymoon in Torquay and wandered into a hotel where a Scopitone jukebox was installed. I was quite impressed by both the sound and video performance of the machine . Priced at one shilling per play (Not so impressive!)

Scopitone, that takes me back. Back to a lads holiday in the south of France in 1961. A cafe in Juan les Pins had one and I was mesmerised watching Francois Hardy sitting on a swing singing Tous les Garcons et la filles. So much so I bought the record and brought it home (some years later it was released in the UK). Never saw another Scopitone but someone told me there was one in a cafe in Hampton Court full of French music. Never checked it out though.
