Default Dansette Oxford

Hi,There are a few things on the site about this model.
I have got mine working after sorting the usual deck issues. The problem is that the sound seems to me to be a bit distorted,I have fitted a new stylus. It has been unused for decades.I don’t think there is a service sheet for this particular model but can anyone recommend something equivalent as I gather a lot of the designs were similar.I would then start off checking all the capacitors but I would need to know what the values should be.
Thank you.Gary

So far as I can make out the Dansette 14-3 amplifier circuit as used in the Major Deluxe, Tempo, Challenge and Bermuda MK1 should be similar but yours might have a 180 Ohm cathode bias resistor instead of a 120 Ohm that's shown in the 14-3 schematic:

Thank you.

I have recently bought the DVDs so will look through. This was supposed to be one of the last models made but they changed back from transistor to valve for some reason.

Dansette only made very, very few record players that used Transistors. Valved models were made right up to Dansette's end in 1968, the OXFORD being one of them. The record players that followed that used the Dansette brand were made by Rank-Bush-Murphy. You will need to measure the HT voltages on your OXFORD which uses a very simple single-stage amplifier. If the amp proves to be OK and the cartridge is at fault, then you may have a problem.
