CT160 VCM meter mounting
I am trying to re-build a cannibalised CT160.
I finally have a replacement meter movement to go in the original meter housing. However, there is no clue as to how the meter is mounted. I suspect some sort of bracket or plate is missing. I know that AVO VCMs are prone to meter stud failure if mis-mounted and over-tightened, so want to get it right. Could anyone advise on how the meter mounts, or even post a photo or two of the internals of the main unit so I can make up something suitable. (By the way, an internal photo will also help me to connect the two ribbon cables correctly, which have been desoldered) Many thanks Jeremy Last edited by Pamphonica; 20th Feb 2009 at 9:50 pm. Re: CT160 VCM meter mounting
Jeremy,
The meter is mounted using a paxolin strip across the chassis, this holds two studs that secures the meter - sadly I do not have a complete one here either, so cannot take a picture for you. Cheers Sean

Re: CT160 VCM meter mounting
Sean,
thanks. The CT160 was one I got from you, as spares/repair. I chose "repair"! The meter has short studs - they are still about 30mm clear of the rear pax panel, which is in place. Are there additional studs captive in the rear pax panel normally, to which the meter studs attach? tnx Jeremy |

Re: CT160 VCM meter mounting
Ah, yes, there are two long threaded spacers that screw onto the meter studs, this then has two screws that secure the meter to the paxolin strip.

Re: CT160 VCM meter mounting
Jeremy, Looks like you need the two hexagonal female 2BA threaded pillars, approx 1 1/2" long, which are mounted on the paxolin either side of the bulb holder.
Do you need some paxolin sheeting ? I've heaps of 1/8" Regards, David |

Re: CT160 VCM meter mounting
David,
Actually the pax at the back is OK , but thank you for the very kind offer - just the studs seem to be missing, and Geoff is sending me a damaged meter complete with studs. If you have any other spare CT160 bits let me know - I am still short a few bits! Many thanks Jeremy |
