Re: Newbie a question
Good point Graham. If it's a "question of identity" or value, that link doesn't even open for me The lack of an image may definetely restrict the level of response unless it's just me!

Re: Newbie a question
I can get the link to open, but can't make out the manufacturer. Looks like a fairly good quality stacking system.

Re: Newbie a question
The front panel layouts are the same as the HMV 8000 series but the logo might be different.

Re: Newbie a question
Caution!
The link opened for me and threw up one of those jiggling windows demanding to be clicked to install a necessary browser update in order to display..... I shut the window from task mangler. David

Re: Newbie a question
Sort of similar here, the link was a HOS for me.
I clicked on the link, the page came up, same jiggly crap came up as what you had David, didn't click on that but some script prompt/error window came up, clicked stop, it came up again repeatedly then my PC hung up, , had to restart...Grrr. Lawrence. |

Re: Newbie a question
What does the OP want to know, is there a question? Edward

Re: Newbie a question
I asked that in post #2.
There is really no need to ask again.

Re: Newbie a question
That's true Graham but surely it can only be value issue now, not ID or repair [as it's not been plugged in]. Perhaps we can answer the question anyway or have I missed something out? The OP certainly has! More importantly, is there likely to be a virus issue here? I'm not very computer savvy at all [but that's probaly obvious!]

Re: Newbie a question
One of those hosting sites. I didn't get any warnings, but people were experiencing difficulties and we do prefer images to be on here rather than remote. Who knows what changes can occur in the future?

Re: Newbie a question
The only picture I can find is below, described as a Fidelity 350, same panel layout as the HMV 8000 as mentioned in post #8.
I wonder who the original manufacturer was? Could be Fidelity. Link to the Fidelity Amp: http://audio-room.net/fidelity-350a/ Link to the HMV 8000 series: https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/a...9-a45601764e3e Lawrence. Last edited by ms660; 13th Sep 2016 at 8:47 am. Reason: Re written |

Re: Newbie a question
The construction looks fairly lightweight with modest transformers. Interesting that the HMV and Fidelity might have been the same OEM product. Even so, value is not likely be very high. Edward

Re: Newbie a question
Quote:
Fidelity acquired the rights to the UK HMV brand after Thorn Consumer Electronics (i.e. Ferguson) dropped it. So, these items were probably designed and made in the UK by Fidelity. I have service manuals for a few Fidelity made but HMV branded products. I don't think Fidelity used the HMV brand for long though. Fidelity itself was shut down and the brand acquired by Amstrad. Re: Newbie a question
I tried blowing it up and thought I could see an F denoting Fidelity. Certainly looks the part, perhaps I shouldn't have used the phrase "blowing up" My history with them wasn't terribly favorable.
