Couldn't resist a little further research and it would seem that my original comments should hold true for devices manufactured by Japanese companies that used the JIS designation system. The confusion arises because of the different designations used in Europe which I guess would have applied to Dynatron products at some point in time.

Quite complex when you also look at other systems used at different times around the globe. Could be the subject of a whole new thread!
