Default Dodgy Fuse

Hello
I have recently had the pleasure/headache of restoring an Aiwa AD-6700, having spent hours stripping the machine to be able to take the transport out to replace the belts and tyres, I then spent hours getting it all back together.

Only to find no sound at all on playback, so out with the PSU circuit diagram and sue enough one of the supplys (-32v) was down, seeing a 2.2 ohm fusible resistor I thought hey.......no........so a bit more foraging and I found the fuse board, quick test and all 6 were ok except one that measure 249k !!!

Take it out and yes the same high resistance reading, obviously I changed it and luckily no problems and off she went.

Has anyone else ever come across a glass fuse that has not blown but turned itself into a resistor

This is a first for me in all my years of tinkering

Gary

Ps A stunning sounding cassette BTW
