Old American Set
When I was on holiday in New Orleans 10 years ago the set in the attached picture was in my room.
Even then it was a bit of a relic, but I'm guessing that was intentional to stop people from removing it. I stayed in a few other places but the sets there were more modern & not really worth taking photos of. Apart from seeing it's a Zenith I've no idea what model, I'm not sure if there is anyone here who is good at identifying American TVs.

Re: Old American Set
The set looks like it dates from the mid 80's, if that is any help?

Re: Old American Set
A bit of a curio, that one. By the time those Flatter Squarer Tubes came out, almost all the sets were cased in black plastic. A bit odd to see the (faux) wood on such a set.

Re: Old American Set
Well spotted Fivos.
American sets always looked very different to those we had. I usually find them hideous, but that Zenith is rather stylish. N. |

Re: Old American Set
I remember thinking was odd that large American sets still had rotary tuners long after they were only to be found on small portables here.

Re: Old American Set
With the number of channels available in some parts of the US a set with 4 or 6 buttons would have been entirely useless - it wasn't until the arrival of electronic channel selectors with 'virtual' buttons - up to 99 (100 if you count 00) with a 2 digit display could the rotary tuner be abandoned - although they continued to appear on low end sets for many years

Re: Old American Set
Yes I was thinking that was the case.
