Hi. I've recently acquired an old digital clock (used to be my mum and dad's). I was really intrigued by it - I've never seen anything like it, but the only clue on it is the word DIGEEC.
I stuck that in Google and precious little came up, apart from a picture of one that looks just like it which linked to this forum - I saw a reference to a "Nixie tube clock" although I have no idea what that means. I was just curious to see if anyone knew anything about them - when they were around, how common they were etc. It seems to work perfectly which is quite impressive, my parents reckon it must be at least 50 years old, and it just seemed like there, might be someone on here who would know. Oh, and sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick and it's not the sort of thing you discuss on this forum, but if that's the case be really grateful if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance. Charlie |

It's very unlikely to be an actual Nixie clock. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nixie_tube
Early domestic digital clocks used electromechanical flip-over displays, a bit like a pack of cards. Later ones used a number of electronic technologies - vacuum fluorescent displays (VFDs), LEDs and backlit LCDs. Some photos would help us identify it. 'Digeec' is likely to be a no-name brand used by a Japanese or Hong Kong manufacturer. |

Sorry, turns out I was completely wrong and it *is* a Nixie clock! See https://www.worldphaco.com/uploads/T...S_LSI_CHIP.pdf

A lovely clock and one I aspire to own one day maybe. I have a modern Nixie which gets so many comments from friends.
