Default HMV Gramophone Identification

Hello to everyone - I am new to the Forum. I am looking to buy my first windup gramophone.

Would anyone be able to identify the model of this HMV tabletop?
Many thanks in advance regards, John

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Your gramophone is a model 109, in production October 1925 - June 1930, and cost 10 guineas. (£10.50p)

Audio1950.

Many thanks for the prompt reply. That clears this mystery up as I was unable to find anything on the 'net' that looked exactly like it.

I was looking particularly at the needle container which on the one in my picture is on the RIGHT, but those I see on web appear to be on the LEFT. Is there any particular reason for that?

John

According to the gramophone collectors "Bible", officially called "His Master's Gramophone", the needle bowl was re-positioned sometime during 1927. At the same time, the lid stay was changed from the "sliding cam" type to the "knuckle joint".
