Default Marconiphone type 31. Value?

Hello

I have a Marconiphone type 31 that I'd like to re-home. My father went through a period of collecting vintage radios in the 90s, mainly from car boot sales. This one came to me and has sat on a shelf as an ornament for the past decade. It's in pretty good condition and whilst I know it worked many moons ago, I couldn't vouch for it working today, so would be sold as such.

I'm not sure how much these things are worth, other than looking at auctions where they seem to go for around the £150-200 mark. That might be way off, so I'm happy to take a steer on what's reasonable from yourselves.

I've attached some photos but happy to share any other details if it helps.

Thanks in advance for any feedback on this.

Josh

Unfortunately it has been considerably altered from original inside, which is likely to decrease its value considerably.

May fetch £50, mainly for the valves.

Especially in 1920s sets, originality is everything.

Many thanks for the reply all - it's very interesting. I wonder why someone would have modified it? I'd love to know the story there.

If it's of use to anyone then I'm happy to sell it on, otherwise I'll find it a suitable shelf to sit on and reclaim it's function as an ornament.

Thanks again
Josh
