Default Video 2000 and other gear

Hi all

Was hoping for a little help in what to do with this gear. Have inherited a Philips video 2000 and wondered is it worth anything to somebody? Not sure if it’s in working Order or not. Also have a ken multi video enhancer and a JVC super VHS ET. Any help would be appreciated.

This was a tasty machine, smaller than the usual 2000 range. They were not prone to any particular failings. But the heads will be unobtainable now. I liked them, good luck with it.

Hi,

I have bought many VR2324 machines in the past few years for renovation. If it does still power on you will find within about 10 minutes the mains suppression capacitor will blow and you'll have acrid smoke everywhere. Not actually a huge issue to fix but scary when you haven't seen that before.

A guy in Holland sells restored ones with a 1y guarantee for £120-£170 depending on wear. Unrestored ones in the UK tend to fetch £30-£50 assuming at least the clock comes on during power up and the insides doesnt suffer from rust/ tarnishing.

Hope that helps.

If you can't find the original power cable, any standard 'figure 8' cable is compatible.

Hi,
knowing about the mains suppression cap is very useful, as I have a v2000 machine to look at. It has got stuck on the round tuit pile !

Another stock fault is the power transistors fixed to the inside of the cabinet back wall have push on connections. They go intermittent. A 2324 is a nice machine, compact and 'dinky' to look at, but the electronics are so crammed in, it's very difficult to work on as it's hard to monitor points and have the machine in a working state.
