Default Re: Decca TPW70 Kitchen Radio

I just thought I would bring this thread up to date. I changed all the Daly electrolytics, replaced the damaged Hunts capacitor, replaced the resistor that was broken in two and changed two resistors which had gone high in value. The non available PP1 batteries were replaced by two 4xAA holders and cells inserted. Time for a cautious switch on, speaker replaced with dummy load and standing current checked - 12 mA, seems reasonable. Speaker now connected and switch on, complete anticlimax - it was working superbly, excellent sensitivity on MW and LW and a surprisingly good round sound helped by the relatively large speaker. I've found a spot in the dining room where it doesn't seem to be affected by all those wall warts and will hang there.
