Lightbulb Cleaning painted aluminium 'scope cases

For what it's worth, I've just restored a filthy Cossor oscilloscope to a really clean condition using a detergent known as Fenwicks, sold for cleaning caravans. Used diluted and applied with a wet rag, it got most of the 40 years' worth of ingrained dirt off quickly. Careful application of neat detergent on the front panel with a moist rag, and on the knobs with an old toothbrush, has restored the looks without washing off the legends.

I don't know what's in it, but it works a lot better than household detergent, and it makes my caravan look shiny too!
