Default BVWS Committee meeting discussions regarding NVCF

We discussed the NVCF at today's committee meeting (conference call). All was very much as expected really, which is good!
  • Emails received by the Chairman and others generally reflected the positive comments here. The minor niggles mentioned will be looked into, but we do not expect any significant changes in future events.
  • The event made a reasonable profit - enough to cover the losses made by the previous one and return a small profit on top.
  • The Collectors' Guide was not missed (only about 6 people asked about it) and has saved a significant amount in printing costs.
  • The event will remain once a year. This is due to the workload of organising it, and also to keep it "special".
  • The event will remain at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.

Thumbs up Re: Committee meeting discussions regarding NVCF

Good to hear that, Paul, and some recompense for the hours that you and others must have spent organising it.
Cannot wait for next year........

I'm sure we would all like to join in thanking Mike, the committee and and volunteers who all worked hard to make the NVCF into a great day.

I'm sure they would welcome more volunteers next year to help with stewarding, ticket office etc.

I think the time we would need volunteers is in the six weeks or so leading up to the event. This is when the majority of the work has to be done, and when the organisers get endless phone calls well into the evenings asking the same questions.

On the day, if the preparation is right, everything comes together reasonably well.

If we have a bring-and-buy stall or a BVWS bargain stall next time, we will need volunteers to help those. Not all day, obviously. They probably wouldn't open until 10:30 so if we can find a few people who can do an hour and a half each that woud cover it without people losing the whole day.

This is all something we can consider nearer the time, however.

It was mostly Mike and Guy this time, with some assistance from other committee members. I didn't actually have much involvement this time.

I would be happy to help with a bring-and-buy stall if one is held. The thought occurred to me that those who bring might be asked to consider doing a stint on the stall. The more who are willing, the shorter the stints could be.

As you say, details can be left until nearer the time.
