Philips VHS recorder with illuminated front panel - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

Hello all,

I'm trying to find out some model number(s) of a Philips VHS with illuminated front panel (the bit that displays the "Play", "Pause", etc. writing). I saw one of these models in around 1990.

Does anyone recognise this description?

This sounds like the Charley deck models from 1987 onwards! The strip only lit up when the deck was being used ISTR - In EE mode the strip was off! I had a mono machine that had this feature, I don't know the model number though - I remember it being a nice feature of these very low profile & nice looking VHS machines!!

The 1986/1987 compact models did this indeed. VR6467, VR6760 etc. I think.

If it was new around 1990 I'd think of other models but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Some used fluorescent displays in green (Charlies) or, later, blue (Turbos) then backlit LCD (Matchlines).
