I have acquired a number of Avo 163 valve tester meters which were bought from Avo when they decided to sell them on. Some are in their original boxes but most are not those that have no box are in individual plastic bags. price for either type is £125 plus postage.

Hello, I'm interested in an Ia meter ( left hand side of tester 0-100 meter ), would you have this type?
Sean. If only this type is available please put me down for one. Last edited by Longespee; 25th Nov 2022 at 3:03 pm. |

Sean. Enjoyed the chat and have decided that £240 for a pair makes good sense. I will put your pair aside ready for posting. Think there are only 8 Ia meters available.

All the Ia meters have gone so I only have mA/V meters available (right hand side).

I bought a Gm meter from Haydn just before Xmas. He seemed flexible on shipping (within the UK); see no reason why he wouldn't ship overseas if costs covered. Meter checks out nicely.

Hi
I know it's a long shot but, do you still have any of the mA/V meters and would they fit and would fit an AVO Characteristic Meter MK3? I am not worried if they are not the correct meter for the tester as long as the do the correct job Regards Bill |

Bill, these meters are not right for the VCM Mk3. That uses the fragile 30ua meters much discussed here, as they are used for the CT160 as well. Now unobtainable, but if you find another Avo meter that looks similar but has a lower sensitivity. (Like 1ma) from a test set or whatever, then there are plenty of ideas here to use those as perfect substitutes, but with a small op-amp to drive them. That hint worked very well for me for two VCMs I restored. Search for “ct160 meter” or something like that.
These VCM163 meters are really designed for that job, and you should be able to use a meter as suggested above for far less dosh! All best Jeremy
