Default Roberts external aerial socket restoration.

Hi All,

I have a few old Roberts with now cleaned top panels but the aerial input socket is all rusty and manky (tech phrase! ) any tips for cleaning these back to good?

Hi Jim
These were originally nickel plated steel, AFAIK. If they are really bad, I tend to dismantle the sockets completely (and make sure the headphone socket switch is OK - stock fault).
The outside shell can be cleaned with steel wool (keep it away from the chassis) and the top bit could be lacquered to allay corrosion, or even painted with that "chrome" aerosol.

Thanks Mike for these tips. I have a few with manky sockets and they will look loads better when cleaned up
