Default Snellings Museum

Only just found this website, looks like mainly photos rather than detailed technical information, looks very interesting though, sounds like there is an actual museum as well.

Yes, it is an actual museum. Visited it some years ago. At the time it shared offices with their business A/V division, but that has since expanded into separate premises. The plan was then to redevelop the site to be just a museum. Hopefully that has happened, and certainly judging by the website the ideas live on.

The blurb implies that everything's been in storage since 2016.

What a lovely load of old stuff though, and brilliant photography (including chassis etc). It would benefit from having a few sentences about each item to read though, rather like Jon Evans' Jonz Valve Page.

Loads of duplicates, by which I mean they have several examples of the same model.

Scary how many of their items I actually own!

Nick.

Shame, that was about the time the business side moved out. Perhaps they haven't redeveloped after all.

I found One Cassette player mentioned there - I am going to start a thread on it, which I could not find elsewhere on the net as such, which I found of interest and pleased at least there is a good website, we all know the cost and time of storage and display items is not insignificant so even it items are not viewable at least good documentation is a useful second best.

I kinda like the way they've laid it out; it's clearly aspiring to be a proper 'museum' rather than just a collection. But it could be even better if the individual exhibits had listed the date-of-acquisition, where/how it was acquired, how much was paid for it/was it a donation [and if a donation, who was the donor], whether it is fully-working or just a static exhibit etc.

Museum-exhibits need authenticability/traceability.
