Question Supergluing a polarity c/o switch in place OK?

Not having a soldering iron capable of soldering a slide switch to the metal frame of a Motorola 114 car radio, I hit on the idea of using superglue, which, after leaving the glued joints undisturbed for over an hour, seemed to be OK, although, as both the switch and the frame of the radio have fixing holes which will accept 6BA or similar screws, I will use a couple of nuts & bolts to additionally secure the switch in place. The radio will be fitted in a vintage sports car, so is the above method likely to withstand the rigours of occasional use in such a vehicle? Motorola originally soldered the switch to the rear panel, b.t.w.

Modern glues are incredibly strong [for example, aircraft these days are glued together not riveted].

6BA nuts and setscrews won't do any harm - though use lock-washers or a dab of varnish on the threads to stop them working loose in service.

O.K., G6, basically that's what I thought, and will do.

The other advantage of bolting it up is that you get a reliable electrical connection to the switch frame. This will increase the chances of a blown fuse as opposed to accidental damage to the set in the event of a faulty switch.

I hadn't thought of that possibility, Refugee, but the switch is now bolted in place, using shakeproof washers and Loctite threadlock
