Default Information on Racal Coupling Unit 11-0167 Wanted

Hi all, can anyone please help with any info on a Racal 11-0167 coupling unit.
Such as max frequency, wattage, and attenuation tap off volts etc.

I have searched the WWW with no luck. I have a Marconi TF2304 AM /FM modulation meter and I am trying to set it up.

I know the Marconi has what is called a sniffer and wonder if the 11-0167 is similar, many thanks for any help mike

Hi Mike, if you could carry out resistance measurements between the three connectors it may shed some light.
Chances are it's a nominal 50 ohms, and the tap off is likely to be a round figure, -40dB or -60dB for monitoring with a spec-an (assuming a suitably rated and impedance load is connected to the output connector)
If it is -60dB, then expect a direct connection between the "UHF" (or maybe "N"), and 25k between them and the bnc inner, and 50 ohms between the bnc inner and the body.
If you have a signal generator with a calibrated attenuator, it's easy enough to determine the attenuation and useable frequency range. As for power rating, that's any body's guess, but should be good for 100 W.
However, I could be completely wrong, it might actually be a directional coupler....
Rob.

Cheers Rob, I will give it a try with those figures and see if I can get a result.
The most I want power wise is 100 watts into the load and hope the tap off attenuates OK
many thanks mike

Mike,
you can read here some details over that "Thru-line Connector".

This mentioned in the Racal Dana 9008 Service Manual. It is just a sniffer Like to Marconi one.

The handbook is available on the web for download. There is also a Yahoo group dedicated to Racal Dana you may find more help there.

hi there all. I have done some checks on the coupler there is continuity across the tee piece through but on the b n c plug internally there is a small shorting pickup link which I think is adjustable I have put 5 watts through the coupler into a dummy load hoping to be able to read some sort of signal off the coupler but no joy should the coupler maybe have something else other than a pickup link or is this correct ? the coupler just seems unresponsive to any signal put through maybe it needs higher power not sure cheers mike
