Default Round, Space Ball TV's

I have just seen a reproduction Round White Space Ball style with a claim that the originals were made by Foster?

All the ones I ever fixed in my career were Telefunkens with a Decca Bradford Chassis in side. Were there others? Did Metz do one ?

Must admit I only ever saw about 5 or 6.

Any comments appreciated.

Two others that spring to mind are the Keracolor sets from the very early 1970s which also contained a Decca Hybrid valve chassis. Also there were a few JVC small screen models which seem to fetch crazy prices these days!

I did see a picture on Facebook of a Keracolor owned by an American collector, was there an NTSC version?

Thanks for the reply and pic, it looks remarkably similar to the Telefunken`s.
I knew there was another brand, perhaps Keracolor, was it, I thought it might have been a Metz.
Thanks again to all replies.

Never saw one with that chassis, is that the chassis used in a Finlux Peacock,
possibly a Salora chassis, me thinks ?

A Telefunken with a Bradford chassis? Isn't it either a Telefunken or a Bradford?

They did produce a badge engineered set
That was a Decca Bradford with a Telefunken name on it
But I don’t recall a round version except the Keracolour

Yes, I did did see a 22" Bradford badged as a Telefunken, it had a 220 Volt mains TX, vaguely remember the tuner being different, long time ago.
As far as I recall all the Space Ball TV`s I saw were Telefunkens, and their owners tended to be in one geographical area of NW London, not sure who sold them, but there was a rather exclusive TV sales and rental shop in Heath St Hampstead called Drazin, they sold some very pricy sets, I think they were a B&O Dealer.

As far as I remember there was also an Indesit space ball TV. I only ever saw one and never saw the insides of that so have no idea what chassis was fitted.

The Telefunken badged Bradfords were exactly the same internally as the 22" Decca sets with the seven flap key tuner and slider controls as fitted to later 30 series sets. I don't think they had anything to do with Telefunken other than the name. Telefunken were selling the 26" 710 and 711 chassis at the time, and probably wanted to offer a 22" which was the favourite size in Britain. Quite a few were sold round here and it was a relief when we saw a good old Decca in a different cabinet.
To return to the Keracolor (sic) the early ones were fitted with a Decca 10 chassis and 25" CRT. The most common was the 22" 30 chassis version in a variety of colours. Later versions, of which I have one, were fitted with the 100 series chassis. Many years later the name and the moulds were resurrected and the sets produced again but they were expensive and weren't a great success. I'm not sure which chassis was fitted to these, but it would have been a current model.

Indesit also made a portable with a triangular side profile with a similar "space age" mantra.

By contrast their bigger sets in the 1970s seemed to be the usual wooden boxes almost every else was making at the time.
