Bsr ua50
This is the portable 9V version of one of the BSR decks.
I have three questions? 1) How do you adjust the speed of the motor? 2) Do you know how the spring arrowed in the picture fits? 3) During the cycle change something is supposed to push the white lever which detects 12" records, can anyone tell me how that works? |

Re: Bsr ua50
Can’t remember the make but there were some battery operated record players with a mechanical governor on the shaft inside the motor housing. Replacement motor was the recommended fix, appreciate not possible today.

Re: Bsr ua50
There is a mechanical governor on this motor, pictured below.
I am more concerned as to where the spring goes. |

Re: Bsr ua50
The motor I can help you with but can't picture the deck / what deck it is, do you know the deck model number or photo of the top of the deck so we can work out which one it is?

Re: Bsr ua50
The motor can be speed-up via the screw next to where my screwdriver is turn clockwise a couple of mm.
As for that spring thingy, I'm not sure if your deck is the same as what's in my Dansette Transit I've attached a pic where the only spring I can see like yours is and the end bit is attached to a bar. |

That's the deck, the spring sits near the white button which is used to detect 10" & 12" records. I'll take more pictures tomorrow. |

Re: Bsr ua50
More pictures of the mech, in the forth picture I have highlighted the spring.
Astro63 if you could post some close ups of the top of the deck especially where this spring is, I'd be very grateful. |

Re: Bsr ua50
Unfortunately that doesn't help. The spring in question is sandwiched between the sub chassis and the deck plate so can't be seen unless that sup chassis is removed.
It's not difficult, but I respect your wishes not to do any further dismantling. |

Re: Bsr ua50
ive looked at your images over and over, the spring looks like it needs to be slid along the and the hook part clips thru side metal part as shown with red arrow

Re: Bsr ua50
All sorted.
Astra 63: i didn't see the last post of yours till lately but it helped a lot. I bought another very cheaply and that showed me what had happened. As Astra said, the spring hooks onto the lever as arrowed, but what puzzled me was the other end of the spring. Someone in the past had removed the spring and opened up the coil, I snipped of that end, hooked the spring back on and that sorted that. picture taken from another machine showing the spring Which leaves the issue of what moves the lever up during the change cycle. There is a pin sticking out which moves the lever to the upright position, this had broken off. i fabricated a new one from a sewing pin, pent over and glued in with araldite. taken from the working machine my machine with missing pin showing broken pin I will sort out the speed issue when I've rebuilt the power supply. |
