Default Ekco RP430

HI , just repairing this player and C7 , C8 and C9 look weary and test out of spec also the Hunts caps I am going to change - I have the circuit and its on the Service data DVD but can anyone let me know if the Metalmite caps C7 , C8 and C9 are polarised - they are coloured red and black at each end but I am pretty sure these are not electrolytics - in fact I have never changed a Metalmite capacitor and have been doing this job for years !! The values of the caps are 0.01uf at 350 volt , Tony .

Metalmite capacitors are paper dielectric, I have had them fail.

Personally I would use the yellow poly. axial caps made by LCR and others. These are what I normally use in any valved gear.

I use the Vishay (Roederstein) MKT1813 series Polyester film capacitors.

Those are the type I meant, DV. I've bought similar caps from, among others, CPC, Cricklewood Electronics, Farnell, & RS, over the years. Not all have been made by Vishay, though.

Yes. I usually use the yellow LCR poly caps rated at 600 volts - but was just making sure the metalmites were not polarised - will get parts on order and see how I go - it should sound good 7 watts 2xECL 86 push-pull amp fitted.

Hi , sorted the amp on this now - sounds great - just need to do the usual clean , re-grease and re-lubricate the deck , metalmites replaced with LCR poly caps and been on test for a full day so its looking good !
