This transformer doesn't have a soldered thermal fuse, rather it's held together by a small shackle of low melt metal. In the picture, the shackle is missing.

Hi Maarten,

That is interesting, so what is the black cylindrical object that looks like there is a wire coming out of it, on its right hand side and the wire then going into the body of the transformer in Post # 5 photo?

What is the spring/contact (copper) on the base/underside of the transformer ?

So what does the shackle hold together , do you have a photo showing the shackle fitted ?

DarthGrapes, so which part did you actually manage to solder repair ?

That is interesting! I just soldered the two points that are held by the shackle. There was no sign of the shackle in the machine and it seems to be doing the trick.
