Not radio, but vintage items used today include an Eveready powerbeam handlamp, and a Hoover "portapower" vacuum cleaner which I don't really think of as being vintage, but it IS over 25 years old.

And a set of vintage Christmas lights.

I'm not much of a TV watcher- I much prefer to be round the back of one fixing it! However, tonight I did watch an episode of the 'Professionals' on a Thorn 1500 TV, the signal source being a Ferguson 3V29 VCR.

I'm currently sitting in front of a '50's fan heater which my Grandad bought for his greenhouse many moons ago. It was made by M.A.L (Magicook appliances Ltd) I use it every day at this time of year.

I was at my Parents for dinner and every day they listen to the shipping forecast and then the news on Radio 4 long wave. The radio is a GEC 'transistor' from about 1960. It gets used every day and sounds really good. It's also never had any components replaced! They also have a MAL fan heater (an upright one from the same era as the radio) which gets daily use.

So most days something old if not vintage gets used to do the job it was built to do!

Cheers
Nick

Definitely, what an incredible piece of engineering that's still working.

..That episode of The Professionals had a bit more bite to it than some, very watchable.

What have i used?..These. CeKa West German tools. My Father got them for me when i was 10? 11? and god knows how they've survived the ensuing 38 years. Fantastically strong.

Visitors here are announced by V&E Friedland Westminster chime, that must be well over 50 years old.
Unfortunately, the paxolin wafer switch sequencer became un-serviceable, so it now has a little circuit board with an ATTiny85 and four transistors driving the solenoids, but on the plus side, it now plays all four quarters.

Does 70's era Richard Allen speakers connected to an NAD T750 amp to watch the tv news this morning count?

Standard design meter is my AVO 8. Gets used every day, AND I use it for all my design work.

HP410B used "almost" every day, superb for checking for leaky coupling caps.

The radio of mine which gets the most use is a 1939 RCA Victor 45X1! and I also use an AVO All wave oscillator c1945 -1950 quite often.

I suppose it depends on the definition of vintage, my mobile phone is a Nokia 1100, It does everything I want, has a built in torch. With it switched on 24/7 with the occasional use I give it, the battery still lasts for more than 7 days between charges.
But I have to admit most if not all my other vintage stuff is treated as a collection and only occasionally used.

You keep a PCR in your kitchen Blimey. It's a big lump for that.

I forgot the early '60s Hoover 652 (not A!) - but it was my wife who used it not me!

Tandberg TP41 transistor radio 'on the table', Sansui 9090 receiver, Trio 600T and Pioneer TX-9800 tuners in my hifi room, swapping them around, comparing them as is my bent.

My various Weller TCPs are all over forty years old, as is the Tek 465. Our Hotpoint Fridge Freezer is 46 years old and my parents still use one of those fifties HMV electric fires that uses the elliptical speaker frame as a base.

I use a Garrard 401 with Leak varislope most days. The amplifier was homebrewed about 25 years ago. Less often but still several times a month I listen to my Troughline II.

In the tinkering room, a Taylor 68A/M and an AVO 8 are used at least weekly. From time to time I also use a GDO and a VVM - both Heathkit.
