Re: Honey Extractor
Got the nicely relined shoes back today. £31-08, ouch, but it's cheaper than a new clutch (probably) and not my money .
I'll try it out tomorrow and take a few pics for general interest.

Re: Honey Extractor
Not quite "tomorrow" but update as offered:
Relined shoes fitted to clutch motor side unit. This was then taken out to the motor and checked to see that the shoes were "leading" when the motor was running forwards. They weren't so the shoes were refitted the other way round from in the pic! Reassembled clutch and refitted to motor spindle, then whole assembly bolted back onto extractor unit and the drive belt refitted and everything turned back up the right way. Switch on, select forwards and . The whole honeycomb frame support span steadily up to speed in 30 seconds or so. Shut down, stop with brake and try reverse- not surprisingly with the clutch shoes now trailing it took much longer to get up to speed. Not sure why a reverse is needed at all, but at least it works. Pics follow general sequence as described.

Re: Honey Extractor
Reverse is needed because not all the wax cells are perfectly aligned.
I have a manual 3 frame extractor and I can always get that extra half kilo by spinning backwards. It's easy to test anyway. Try weighing a full frame, spin it one way only and weigh again, fit the frame back into the extractor and spin in reverse. Apart from seeing the honey coming out, you can re weigh the frame and you will see it's much lighter. Joe |

Re: Honey Extractor
Thanks for that interesting information. Something new learned every day!
Never had anything directly to do with beekeeping (other than enjoying the end product) before this little job came my way. I rather hope to be paid in kind.......
