IC connection on valves
I often see "internal connection only do not use", on some valves, has anyone explored these to see what they actually connect to. ?

Re: IC connection on valves
I think a lot of the time these are because the pin is used for internal supports or ties.

Re: IC connection on valves
Beware that the same valve type may have "IC" pins connected to different electrodes between different manufacturers as the precise details of internal construction frequently varied- presumably to best suit differing jigs, stamping dies and so on. Just occasionally, this can cause a problem where an equipment designer uses an IC pin for layout convenience having been used to a particular valve manufacturer's pin-out. Poor practice, really.

Re: IC connection on valves
Yes, poor practice it certainly is! The reason for that practice of course is simply that of saving a few pennies on additional tag-strips, etc., which over a significant production run would have saved several pounds. However, when I'm gazing at the component layout beneath chassis and getting really confused, trying to work out just what connects to what, (let alone why ), I sometimes re-configure the connections & layout so that any internal connections are simply not used.
